Uses a GET request to the Alephant SaaS cockpit endpoints (budget-status, usage-summary, daily-costs, cost-by-model), authenticated with the virtual key credential. Transient network errors are retried once. Failures raise a NodeApiError. The Period only affects those four operations. Other operations (scope, recentRequests, requestLogDetail) ignore it.
