n8n-nodes-sunday

Comfortable monday.com nodes for n8n.

Why “Sunday”?

monday.com is a fantastic product. However, the monday.com nodes shipped with n8n can be hard to work with in practice: configuration is often verbose, the UX can feel unintuitive, and you sometimes end up fighting the node instead of building workflows.

Sunday Nodes exist to provide a pragmatic API wrapper with a more comfortable interaction model for monday.com in n8n.

Features

  • Uses existing n8n monday.com credentials (no custom credential type shipped)
  • GraphQL wrapper with friendly, typed payload handling
  • “Update” and “Create” share the same column editors (one mental model)
  • File Operations:
    • Download: Automatically download binary files from file columns in GET operation
    • Upload: Upload files from Binary Data to file columns in CREATE/UPDATE operations
  • Human-friendly helpers:
    • Status labels: choose a status column, then pick one of the allowed labels
    • People columns: pick board users from a dropdown
    • Link / Rating editors, plus a Raw JSON escape hatch

Requirements

  • n8n >= 1.x
  • Node.js >= 20

Installation

Follow the n8n community nodes installation guide.

Community Nodes (recommended)

  • In n8n: Settings → Community Nodes → Install
  • Install package: n8n-nodes-sunday
  • Restart n8n

Manual install

In your n8n installation directory:

npm install n8n-nodes-sunday

Credentials

This node uses the built-in n8n credential type mondayComApi. Create it in n8n:

  • Credentials → New → monday.com API
  • Add your monday API token

Nodes / Operations

Currently this package ships a single node: Sunday.

Item → Get

    • columnValues as column_id -> (text || parsed value || null)
    • Optional: include item updates (comments)
    • Optional: Download Files - automatically download binary files from file columns
      • Files are added as Binary Data
      • Supports multiple files per column
      • Property names: column_id or column_id_file1, column_id_file2, etc.

Item → Update

  • Input: itemId
  • Optional: groupId (move item to another group; loaded via itemId / board)
  • Update “sections” (can be combined):
    • Text / Date / Numbers
    • Checkbox
    • Status (column → allowed labels)
    • People (select board users)
    • Link
    • Rating
    • Connect Boards (experimental)
    • Dependency (experimental)
    • Raw JSON (fallback for everything)

Item → Create

  • Input: boardId, itemName
  • Optional: groupId (loaded as dropdown after setting boardId)
  • Same update sections as “Update”, but applied to create_item

Supported column types (from real boards)

  • Supported with dedicated editors:
    • text, date, numbers, checkbox, status, people, link, rating, file
  • Supported as experimental editors:
    • board_relation, dependency
  • Not editable via column_values in a meaningful way:
    • mirror, item_id, subtasks (requires dedicated operations)
  • Always available:
    • Raw JSON updates (send monday’s expected structure directly)
