Operations

This node supports the following operations:

Account

  • Create Account: Creates a new sub-account under your authenticated reseller account (reseller accounts only)

Account Info

  • Check Account Balance: Returns the current account credit balance for the authenticated user

Contact Verification

  • List Unverified Contacts: Returns a list of contacts requiring verification per ICANN procedures
  • Verify Contact: Verify a contact (reseller accounts only)

Domain

  • Check Availability: Check if domains are available for purchase (up to 50 domains)
  • Create Domain: Register a new domain with full contact and nameserver configuration
  • Get Auth Code: Retrieve the transfer authorization code (EPP code) for a domain
  • Get Pricing: Retrieve registration and renewal pricing for a domain
  • List Domains: Returns a paginated list of domains in the account with extensive filtering options
  • Purchase Privacy: Enable WHOIS privacy protection for a domain
  • Renew Domain: Extend domain registration before expiration
  • Set Nameservers: Update the nameservers for a domain
  • Update Domain: Modify domain settings (autorenew, privacy, lock status)

Domain Name System (DNS)

  • Create Record: Add a new DNS record (A, AAAA, ANAME, CNAME, MX, NS, SRV, TXT)
  • Delete Record: Remove a DNS record by ID
  • Get Record: Retrieve a specific DNS record
  • List Records: List all DNS records for a domain
  • Update Record: Modify an existing DNS record

Email Forwarding

  • Create Email Forwarding: Create a new email forwarding rule
  • Delete Email Forwarding: Remove an email forwarding rule
  • Get Email Forwarding: Retrieve details of a specific forwarding entry
  • List Forwarding Addresses: List all email forwarding rules for a domain
  • Update Email Forwarding: Update the destination for an existing forwarding rule

Credentials

To use this node, you'll need to set up API credentials with Name.com:

  1. Log in to Name.com:

    • Go to name.com and sign in to your account

  2. Generate API Token:

    • Navigate to API → API Token Management → API Tokens

  3. In n8n:

    • Create new credentials for "Name.com API"
    • Environment: Choose Production or Sandbox
      • Production: Live domain operations (real charges apply)
      • Sandbox: Safe testing environment (no real charges)
    • Username: Your Name.com username
      • For sandbox, append "-test" (e.g., myusername-test)
    • API Token: The token from step 2
    • Save the credentials

Sandbox Environment

Name.com provides a sandbox environment for testing. To use it:

  • Select "Sandbox" as the environment in credentials
  • Append "-test" to your username
  • Generate a separate API token for sandbox use at api.dev.name.com
