Installation
Follow the installation guide in the n8n community nodes documentation.
In a self-hosted n8n: Settings → Community Nodes → Install and enter n8n-nodes-bulkconvert.
Operations
Convert a File
Converts a file from a public URL into another format.
- Source URL — a public URL to the input file. The source format is detected from the file extension, so the URL must end with one (e.g.
.pdf,.png,.mp4). - Target Format — the format to convert to (PDF, DOCX, PNG, JPG, MP3, MP4, and more).
- Download Converted File — when enabled (default), the converted file is downloaded and attached as binary data so the next node (e.g. Write Binary File, Google Drive, email) can use it directly. When disabled, only the JSON response with a
download_urlis returned.
To convert many files, feed multiple items into the node — it runs once per input item, so batch conversion is just an n8n loop.
Get Usage
Returns the current quota and usage for your API key (tier, used, remaining, reset date).
Credentials
You need a BulkConvert API key.
- Sign in at bulkconvert.io.
- Open your dashboard and copy your API key (it starts with
bc_live_). - In n8n, create a new BulkConvert API credential and paste the key.
The same key works for both the BulkConvert web app and this node.
Usage
A common flow:
- A trigger provides a file URL (webhook, Google Drive, RSS, etc.).
- BulkConvert → Convert a File with the target format you need.
- A downstream node uses the attached binary — save it, upload it, or email it.
