n8n-nodes-cgc-prompt-preview
A small, credential-free n8n community node for editing long prompt templates in a wide,
prompt-focused panel and passing them to the next workflow node as prompt_template.
What it does
- Displays a large multiline prompt editor.
- Supports the three CGC News prompt purposes:
- Classify Article: validates
{content}. - Generate News Post: validates
{input}. - Assign Tier: validates
{post}.
- Classify Article: validates
- Emits the prompt unchanged as
prompt_templatefor compatibility with the existing
Build Classify Request, Build Generate Request, and Build Tier Request nodes. - Optionally copies incoming fields. This is disabled by default.
- Preserves n8n item linking.
The node does not interpolate the placeholders. The downstream Build Request node remains
responsible for inserting runtime article or post content, exactly as in the current workflow.
Security boundary
The runtime node:
- declares no credentials;
- makes no API or network calls;
- does not read files;
- does not access environment variables;
- does not execute expressions in the prompt editor;
- has no runtime dependencies or telemetry.
Prompt text and output can still be retained in n8n execution history according to the
instance's normal execution-data settings. Do not put credentials or secrets inside prompts.
Run npm run test:security after building to verify the compiled runtime against these rules
and check that values from the repository .env are absent from publishable files.
Local development
npm install
npm test
npm run lint
npm run pack:check

Installing this package does not update any workflow. Replace the three existing Edit Fields
nodes only after fetching the latest live CGC News workflow and confirming no concurrent edit
session is still deploying changes.
