An n8n community node that brings the full power of Composio into your workflows — execute 500+ app tools (Gmail, Slack, GitHub, Notion, Linear, and more), manage user connections, configure auth, and react to triggers.

Installation

Follow the community nodes installation guide.

In n8n (self-hosted): Settings → Community Nodes → Install → n8n-nodes-composio.

Manual / local development:

# from the package folder
npm install
npm run build

# then link it into your n8n install
npm link
cd ~/.n8n/custom # create this folder if it doesn't exist
npm link n8n-nodes-composio

Restart n8n and search for Composio in the node panel.

Credentials

  1. Sign in to the Composio dashboard.
  2. Go to Settings → API Keys and copy (or create) an API key.
  3. In n8n, create new Composio API credentials and paste the key.
    • Base URL defaults to https://backend.composio.dev — only change it for self-hosted Composio.

The credential runs a live test against the Composio API when you save it.

Nodes & Operations

Composio (action node)

Resource Operations
Tool Execute, Get (schema), List
Toolkit Get, List
Connected Account Create, Get, List, Refresh, Delete
Auth Config Create, Get, List, Delete
Trigger List Types, Get Type, List Active, Create, Enable, Disable, Delete

The most-used operation is Tool → Execute: pick a toolkit, pick a tool (e.g. GMAIL_SEND_EMAIL), choose a connected account, and pass arguments either as structured JSON or as natural language.

Composio Trigger

A webhook trigger that starts your workflow when Composio delivers an event (new email, new GitHub issue, etc.).

  1. Add the node and copy its Production URL.
  2. In the Composio dashboard, go to Settings → Webhooks and add that URL.
  3. Optionally filter the node by toolkit, trigger type, or user ID so it only fires for the events you care about.

Usage

Send an email with Gmail

  1. Add a Composio node → Resource: Tool, Operation: Execute.
  2. Toolkit: Gmail, Tool: GMAIL_SEND_EMAIL.
  3. Connected Account: pick the user's Gmail connection.
  4. Arguments:
    {
      "recipient_email": "someone@example.com",
      "subject": "Hello from n8n + Composio",
      "body": "This was sent by an automation."
    }

Connect a new user account

  1. Resource: Auth Config, Operation: List — find or create the auth config for the toolkit.
  2. Resource: Connected Account, Operation: Create — pass the auth config ID and a User ID.
  3. The response contains a redirect_url — send the user there to complete OAuth.

Compatibility

  • Requires n8n 1.x (Node.js ≥ 18.10).
  • Built against the Composio v3 REST API.
