n8n-nodes-fernet

Overview

Encrypts and decrypts data using Fernet symmetric encryption to secure sensitive content in n8n workflows. It is for workflow developers needing to protect payloads, credentials, or any text that must remain confidential. The node integrates with the Python Fernet cryptography library.

Fernet

Provides symmetric encryption and decryption capabilities, handling text and JSON payloads using a shared key.

• Default · Decrypt — Decrypts a Fernet token using a configured key, processing each incoming item separately. Returns the plaintext in a result field, parsed as JSON when the plaintext is valid JSON.
• Default · Encrypt — Encrypts text or JSON with Fernet using a key from credentials or a node field, and returns the token in each output item’s result field.

Installation

Install as an n8n community node: in n8n, open Settings → Community nodes → Install and enter n8n-nodes-fernet.
