An unofficial community node for n8n that allows you to fully automate your Instagram presence using the official Instagram Graph API.

Instagram Publisher Node

Unlike the default n8n Instagram nodes, this package combines everything you need into a single, highly powerful node that natively supports background processing queues, video polling, and metadata mapping.

Features

  • πŸ“Έ Post Images: Publish single photos directly to your feed.
  • 🎬 Post Reels: Upload MP4/MOV videos as Reels (with options to share to the Feed grid).
  • πŸ“– Post Stories: Post 24-hour disappearing images and videos to your Story.
  • 🎠 Post Carousels: Combine up to 10 photos/videos into a single swipeable carousel.
  • 🎡 Search Audio: Find trending music or original sounds to attach directly to your Reels.
  • πŸ” Get Media Info: Fetch metadata for your published posts.

Advanced Capabilities

  • Automated Wait Queues: The node automatically handles Facebook's video processing queues. It will poll the server and wait for your video to be fully processed before publishing.
  • Auto-Hashtags: Append a mapped list of hashtags directly to the end of your caption.
  • First Comment: Automatically post a comment on your photo/video the second it goes live (great for hiding hashtags or adding extra context).
  • Accessibility: Natively supports mapping custom alt_text for image posts.
  • Collaborators & Location: Tag other users and add Location IDs to your posts.

Installation

Follow the standard n8n community node installation guide:

  1. Go to Settings > Community Nodes in your n8n instance.
  2. Select Install.
  3. Enter n8n-nodes-instagram-publisher in the npm package name field.
  4. Agree to the risks and install.

Credentials

This node connects using the Facebook Graph API. You can use your existing n8n Native OAuth credential, or the Custom Token credential provided by this package.

How to get your Instagram User ID

Because Instagram requires a numeric ID (not your @username), you must find your Business/Creator ID:

  1. Log into the Facebook Graph API Explorer.
  2. Select the Meta App and Facebook Page connected to your Instagram account.
  3. In the query box, enter: me?fields=instagram_business_account
  4. Click Submit.
  5. Copy the ID number inside the instagram_business_account JSON response.

Note: Your token must have the instagram_content_publish and pages_read_engagement permissions.

Compatibility

This node was tested and built for n8n versions v1.0.0 and above.
It defaults to using the v26.0 Graph API, but is backwards compatible.
