n8n-nodes-kinopipe
Edit video inside n8n with KinoPipe — FFmpeg as a service for agents. Trim, resize, make vertical for TikTok, add subtitles, extract audio, merge, add a watermark and more, without installing FFmpeg on your n8n host or writing a single shell command.
This is a community node for n8n, a workflow automation platform.
Why
n8n Cloud can't run FFmpeg, and since n8n 2.0 the Execute Command node is disabled by default even when self-hosted. KinoPipe gives you the edits as a typed HTTP API: the node submits the job, waits for it, and hands the next node a downloadable URL. Your videos never pass through the n8n instance — you send a public URL and get a finished file back.
Installation
In n8n: Settings → Community Nodes → Install, then enter n8n-nodes-kinopipe.
Or manually:
npm install n8n-nodes-kinopipe
Credentials
Create an API key at kinopipe.com/keys and add it as a KinoPipe API credential. Free accounts start with 100 credits (1 credit ≈ 1 second of processing) and no card; a $9 pack adds 1,000 credits without a subscription.
Operations
- Run a Tool — pick a ready-made tool (make vertical, resize, trim, add subtitles, extract audio, change speed, normalize loudness, …), give it a source URL and options. Extra named inputs (captions, watermark, music, pip, extra clips) are supported for multi-input tools.
- Custom Job — submit a full KinoPipe recipe as JSON to combine bounded operations in one pass.
- Get Job — read the status and result of a job by ID.
With Wait for Completion on (default), the node polls until the job succeeds or fails and returns the result, with the finished file at downloadUrl for the next node.
The node is marked usable as a tool, so an n8n AI Agent can call it directly: give the agent a video URL and ask for "a vertical cut with subtitles" and it picks the tool and options itself.
Example
Make any landscape video vertical for TikTok with a blurred background:
- KinoPipe → Run a Tool, Tool = Convert Video to Vertical (9:16 Blur)
- Source Video URL = your clip
- Options =
{ "background": "blur" }
The node returns downloadUrl you can pass to your publishing step.
