n8n-nodes-meta-tags-scraper

An n8n community node that scrapes all meta tags (SEO, Open Graph, Twitter Card) from any web page. It is backed by the Meta Tags Scraper on Apify and bills per event, so there are no subscriptions and no minimums.

What it does

Give the node one or more page URLs and it returns every meta tag found on each page — title, description, canonical, robots, Open Graph (og:*), Twitter Card (twitter:*), and any other <meta> tag — as one row per tag. It also works as an AI Agent tool, so an agent can look up a page's SEO metadata on demand. Good for SEO audits, social-preview checks, and bulk metadata extraction across a site.

  • Accepts multiple URLs in a single run
  • Returns one row per meta tag, with the source URL attached to each row
  • Choose how much data to return per result: Simplified, Raw, or Selected Fields

Installation

Follow the n8n community nodes installation guide:

  1. In n8n, open Settings > Community Nodes.
  2. Select Install.
  3. Enter n8n-nodes-meta-tags-scraper as the npm package name.
  4. Agree to the risks of using community nodes, then select Install.

After it installs, the Meta Tags Scraper node appears in the nodes panel.

n8n Cloud only allows verified community nodes. Until this node is verified, install it on a self-hosted n8n instance.

Credentials

You need a free Apify account and an API token.

  1. Sign in to the Apify Console.
  2. Open Settings > Integrations and copy your Personal API token.
  3. In n8n, create a new Apify API credential and paste the token.
  4. Use the credential's Test button to confirm it works.

The node also supports Apify OAuth2 if you prefer to connect that way.

Operations

Page > Scrape Meta Tags returns meta tags for one or more page URLs.

Parameter Description
URLs One or more page URLs to scrape meta tags from, one per line (commas also work).
Output How much data to return: Simplified, Raw, or Selected Fields.

Output

The output is one row per meta tag, not per page. Scraping a page with 10 meta tags produces 10 items. The Output parameter lets you choose how much to return per row:

  • Simplified (default): url, meta_name, content. This mode is also used automatically when the node runs as an AI Agent tool, to keep responses small.
  • Raw: every field the API returns for each row, using the original field names below.
  • Selected Fields: pick exactly which fields to include.

Fields (Raw and Selected Fields)

Field Type Description
url string The page URL the meta tag was found on
meta_name string The meta tag's name or property, for example og:title or description
content string The meta tag's content value

Example workflows

1. Audit Open Graph/Twitter Card tags across a site's pages

  1. Set node: build a list of page URLs to check.
  2. Meta Tags Scraper: paste the URLs.
  3. Filter: keep rows where meta_name starts with og: or twitter:, then flag pages missing key tags.

2. Bulk-check canonical/meta-description tags across a URL list

  1. Google Sheets (or CSV): read a list of URLs to audit.
  2. Meta Tags Scraper: scrape each URL.
  3. Filter: keep rows where meta_name is canonical or description, then write results back to a sheet.

3. Let an AI Agent check a page's metadata

  1. AI Agent node.
  2. Attach Meta Tags Scraper as a tool.
  3. Ask "What's the meta description of this page?" The agent calls the node (in Simplified mode) and returns the matching tag.

Pricing

This node calls the Meta Tags Scraper on Apify, which is billed pay-per-event: $0.0001 per result row. No subscription, no minimums. Apify also includes a free monthly usage tier that covers typical volumes. See the Actor page for current rates.
