Nils Codex Chat ModelInstall

Summary

Provides a Codex chat model output for n8n AI Agent and other LangChain nodes. Converts incoming messages to a text prompt, adds the configured system prompt and installed skills, then runs Codex with the selected model, reasoning effort, personality, sandbox, and timeout.

Inputs

• System Prompt — Static instructions prepended to the prompt sent to Codex.
• Static Skills — Comma- or newline-separated names of skills installed through Nils Codex Setup; their instructions are added to the prompt.
• Model — Codex model to use: GPT-5.5, GPT-5.4 (default), or GPT-5.4 Mini.
• Reasoning Effort — Reasoning level: Extra High, High, Low, or Medium (default).
• Personality — Codex response style: Default, Friendly, or Pragmatic.
• Sandbox — Filesystem access for Codex: Read Only (default), Workspace Write, or Full Access.
• Timeout (Seconds) — Maximum run time, default 300 seconds; the UI declares a minimum of 30 seconds.
• Authentication — Uses valid auth.json on the server when available; otherwise provide the optional Nils Codex Auth API credential. First-time setup uses Nils Codex Setup device login.

Output shape

An AI language model connection for the AI Agent Chat Model input or other compatible LangChain nodes.

The model returns text, with token usage and thread metadata when available. It does not provide native tool-call payloads, so AI Agent tool nodes are not fully supported. Messages are serialized into a text prompt; configure installed skills and sandbox access as needed.

Examples

Example 1: Select GPT-5.5 with a Friendly personality and Read Only sandbox; connect the Model output to an AI Agent's Chat Model input and provide a system prompt or installed skill names if needed.
