Installation

Via n8n Community Nodes (recommended)

  1. Open n8n → Settings → Community Nodes
  2. Search for n8n-nodes-nl-ai-gateway or "Dutch AI"
  3. Click Install

Quick Start

  1. Get your API key at nl-ai-gateway.com
  2. In n8n, add an NL AI Gateway node to your workflow
  3. Create new credentials with your API key
  4. Choose a resource: Chat Completion, Summarize Text, or List Models
  5. Execute!

Using the native OpenAI node instead?

You can also use n8n's built-in OpenAI Chat Model node:

  1. Add an OpenAI Chat Model node
  2. Create new credentials with your NL AI Gateway API key
  3. Check Custom API URL and enter: https://gateway.nl-ai-gateway.com/v1

Available Operations

Chat Completion Create Send a prompt and receive an AI-generated response
Summarize Text Create Summarize text — perfect for emails, documents, support tickets
List Models Get All List all available AI models from the sovereign gateway

Node Output

All Chat Completion and Summarize operations return:

id String Completion ID
model String Model used (e.g. sovereign-worker)
content String The AI-generated response text
finishReason String Why the generation stopped (stop, length, etc.)
promptTokens Number Tokens used by the input
completionTokens Number Tokens used by the output
totalTokens Number Total tokens used

Example Workflows

HR: CV Analysis (GDPR-safe)

  1. Read File from Disk node → read a CV/resume
  2. NL AI Gateway node (Summarize Text) → extract key qualifications
  3. Google Sheets node → log results

Customer Support: Email Auto-Reply

  1. Email Trigger (IMAP) node → receive incoming email
  2. NL AI Gateway node (Chat Completion) → draft a reply
  3. Send Email node → send the reply
