This is an n8n community node. It lets you post, schedule, and manage X (Twitter) content with OpenTweet in your n8n workflows.

OpenTweet is an X/Twitter posting and scheduling API. You post, schedule, thread, and read analytics with a single API key. No X developer account, no OAuth, no app review.

Installation

n8n Cloud (once verified)

Open Settings → Community Nodes, search for n8n-nodes-opentweet, and install it. Verified nodes install with one click, no configuration required.

Self-hosted

  1. Go to Settings → Community Nodes.
  2. Select Install.
  3. Enter n8n-nodes-opentweet as the npm package name.
  4. Agree to the risks of using community nodes and select Install.

Alternatively, follow the manual installation guide in the n8n docs.

Operations

Post

  • Create — Publish a tweet to X immediately.
  • Schedule — Schedule a tweet for a future date and time.
  • Create Batch — Create up to 50 posts in a single request, either auto-mapped from incoming items or from a raw JSON array. The 50-post limit is validated before the request is sent.

Thread

  • Create — Post a multi-tweet thread. Add each tweet as a part; publish immediately or schedule it.

Analytics

  • Get — Retrieve your posting analytics overview (stats, streaks, and trends).

Credentials

You authenticate with an OpenTweet API key.

  1. Create a free account at opentweet.io. No X developer account is needed.
  2. Open the developer page and generate an API key. It starts with ot_.
  3. In n8n, create new OpenTweet API credentials and paste the key.
  4. n8n runs a test request against GET /me, so you get a green check as soon as the key is valid.

See the authentication docs for details.

Compatibility

Requires n8n 1.x. Tested against the current n8n LTS. No runtime dependencies.

Usage

Post a tweet immediately

  1. Add the OpenTweet node.
  2. Resource: Post, Operation: Create.
  3. Set Text to Just shipped a new feature!.

Schedule a tweet

  1. Resource: Post, Operation: Schedule.
  2. Set Text and pick a future Scheduled Date.

Post a thread

  1. Resource: Thread, Operation: Create.
  2. Add one Tweet per part, in order. The first part is the opening post.
  3. Optionally set a Scheduled Date under Additional Fields to schedule instead of publishing now.

Batch create from incoming items

  1. Resource: Post, Operation: Create Batch.
  2. Input Mode: Auto-Map Input Items.
  3. Leave Text as {{ $json.text }} to use each item's text field. Optionally map a per-item Scheduled Date.
  4. Connect up to 50 items into the node. It sends them in one request.

Read analytics

  1. Resource: Analytics, Operation: Get.

Error handling

The node surfaces OpenTweet's error messages directly. Common cases:

  • 401 — "OpenTweet authentication failed. Check that your API key is correct and starts with ot_."
  • 429 — a rate-limit message. OpenTweet enforces per-minute and daily limits per plan.

Enable Continue On Fail on the node to keep the workflow running and pass the error into the output instead of stopping.
