Documentation

n8n-nodes-pdfforge

An n8n community node for pdfforge — a full PDF toolkit inside your automations: generate, organize, convert, secure, redact and fill forms, all with faithful rendering (smart page breaks, real Tailwind, no broken CSS).

Installation

In n8n: Settings → Community Nodes → Install, then enter n8n-nodes-pdfforge.

Or self-hosted:

npm install n8n-nodes-pdfforge

Credentials

Create a PDFForge API credential with your API key (pf_live_… / pf_test_…) from pdf-forge.dev. Base URL defaults to https://api.pdf-forge.dev (override for self-hosted/staging).

Operations

Pick a Resource, then an Operation. Every operation that consumes a PDF reads it from an input binary field (default data) and writes the result to an output binary field (default data).

Resource Operations Output
Generate From HTML (+ Tailwind JIT) · From Stored Template · From URL PDF
Organize Pages Merge · Split Into Pages · Extract Pages · Remove Pages · Rotate PDF (Split → one item per page)
Convert Compress · To Images · Thumbnail PDF / PNG (To Images → one item per page)
Edit Add Watermark · Remove Watermark · Add Page Numbers · Redact PDF
Secure Protect (password) · Unlock PDF
Form Fill (AcroForm and flat/dotted-line forms) · Inspect Fields PDF / JSON
PDF Template Render (imported PDF template + variables) PDF
Inspect Info · Quality Report JSON

Notes:

  • Merge consumes all incoming items (each carrying a PDF) and outputs one merged file.
  • Split and To Images emit one output item per page.
  • Fill works on native AcroForms and on flat administrative forms (dotted lines + checkboxes) — pass a values map like { "client_nom": "SAM", "abonne": true }.

Examples

  • Google Sheets (new row) → PDFForge (Generate → From Stored Template: "invoice") → Gmail (attach binary)
  • Webhook → PDFForge (PDF Template → Render) → PDFForge (Organize → Merge with a cover) → Google Drive
  • IMAP (attachment) → PDFForge (Convert → Compress) → PDFForge (Secure → Protect) → reply
