n8n-nodes-postfjord

Postfjord for n8n. Start a workflow when something new happens in Postfjord, and make
posts, contacts and tags in Postfjord from any other app n8n works with.

Postfjord plans, schedules and publishes posts, emails and DMs for small
businesses. This package calls the Postfjord REST API with your workspace's API key, the same API as
the Postfjord app on Zapier.

Install

In n8n, open Settings, then Community nodes, press Install, type n8n-nodes-postfjord,
tick the box and press Install. Then search for Postfjord when you add a node.

On n8n Cloud, a community node shows up only once n8n has verified it.

Connect

  1. In Postfjord, open Settings, Apps and press the n8n card. Keep Schedule and publish
picked, press Make my key and then Copy key. The key is shown once.
  2. In n8n, add a Postfjord node, open Credential to connect with and pick Create new credential.
  3. Paste the key in API Key and save. n8n checks it right away. Leave Base URL as it is.

You need Postfjord on the Solo plan or higher. Each workspace has its own key.

Postfjord Trigger

Pick one event. n8n checks for new ones on the schedule you set under Poll Times.

Event Starts when
New Contact a contact gets an email address, from a signup form, an import, a DM automation or another app
New Form Signup someone signs up through one of your forms and clicks the link in the confirmation email
New Sale a payment comes in through the Stripe account you connected in Postfjord
Post Published a post has gone out on all its channels
New Conversation someone writes to you for the first time, in a DM or a comment

The first check only notes what is already there, so turning a workflow on does not start it for every
old contact. Fetch Test Event shows the newest one.

Postfjord

Resource Operation What it does
Post Create Draft Makes a draft post with text, channels, a link and a picture or video from a web address. Nothing goes out until you schedule it in Postfjord.
Post Schedule Makes a post that goes out at the time you pick, on the channels you pick. A time without a zone is read in the workflow's time zone.
Contact Create or Update Adds a contact by email address, or updates every contact that has it. Turn on Send Confirmation Email to ask the person to confirm.
Contact Add Tags Adds tags by name. A tag you do not have yet is made.
Contact Find Finds contacts by email address, the email contact first. Nobody found gives one item with found false.
Email Automation Start Puts a person who has confirmed in one of your email automations.

To let n8n's AI Agent use the node as a tool, start n8n with N8N_COMMUNITY_PACKAGES_ALLOW_TOOL_USAGE=true.

What it never does

  • It never says yes to your emails for anyone. Only the person can, by clicking the link in the
    confirmation email.
  • It never adds an address that unsubscribed, bounced or was blocked.
  • It stops when the key is revoked under Settings, Apps, Your keys in Postfjord.

Limits

60 requests a minute for each key. A key may check for new things 10,000 times a day. Errors from
Postfjord show on the node in plain words.

For Postfjord developers

Plain CommonJS, no build step: n8n loads the files named under n8n in package.json as they are.
n8n's starter writes TypeScript and builds it to dist/, but the loader only needs JavaScript, and the
rest of the Postfjord repo is plain JavaScript. There are no run-time dependencies, which n8n requires
of verified nodes. n8n-workflow is a peer dependency that n8n itself provides.

cd integrations/n8n
npm test

The tests run the nodes against a stand-in for n8n and for the API (test/fake.js). Publishing is in
docs/SETUP.md under "n8n". The server side is functions/src/api/routerApps.js and router.js.
