Documentation

n8n-nodes-rate-api

An n8n community node for Rate-API.com - live and historical
currency exchange rates, conversion and crypto prices in any n8n workflow (self-hosted
or cloud).

It is a declarative node: n8n builds the HTTP request from the operation you pick, with
your API key supplied once as a credential.

Operations

Operation What it returns
Get Latest Rates Latest rates for a base currency (optional symbols filter)
Convert Amount from / to / amount -> converted result (Pro+)
Get Pair Rate Rate for a single currency pair
Get Historical Rates Rates on a past date (Pro+)
List Currencies All supported currencies
Get Crypto Rates Top cryptocurrency prices (Pro+)

Install

In n8n (self-hosted, and n8n Cloud where community nodes are enabled):
Settings -> Community Nodes -> Install, then enter the package name:

n8n-nodes-rate-api

Create a Rate-API credential and paste your API key (dashboard > API Keys). The base
URL defaults to https://rate-api.com; change it only if self-hosting the API.

Build from source (development)

cd integrations/n8n
npm install
npm run build          # tsc -> dist/
npm link # then, in your n8n install: npm link n8n-nodes-rate-api

Files:

Path Purpose
credentials/RateApiApi.credentials.ts API key + base URL; "Test" hits /status
nodes/RateApi/RateApi.node.ts The node (operations + parameters, declarative routing)

Auth

The key is injected into the request path (/api/v1/{key}/...), our primary auth method,
so the node works against the production API without any header setup. (The API also
accepts X-API-Key / Authorization: Bearer headers if you prefer.)

Publishing

Publishes to npm like the SDKs. Bump version in package.json, then npm publish
(the prepublishOnly script builds first). To get listed as a verified community node,
follow n8n's submission guide - the package already includes the required
n8n-community-node-package keyword.
