Documentation

n8n-nodes-rednote

An n8n community node for acquiring short-lived Rednote video URLs from a Rednote VPS Dashboard and deleting them after Postifys has ingested the media.

Operations

  • Download Temporary Video accepts a source_ref and returns temp_id, name, serve_url, bytes, and expires_at.
  • Get Temporary Video checks whether a temporary file is still ready.
  • Delete Temporary Video removes it immediately and is safe to call more than once.

Common rule: Download requires a non-empty serve_url. If the note has no downloadable media (SOURCE_UNAVAILABLE / skipped payload), the node errors and the execution stops so Facebook/Instagram/TikTok never run without media. This applies to every workflow that uses the node after upgrading the package.

Temporary files are also deleted automatically by the Rednote server after one hour. The node controls server-side files and never loads video binary data into n8n memory.

Workflow

Schedule / Data Table
-> Rednote Media: Download Temporary Video
-> Postifys: Media Upload (URL = {{$json.serve_url}})
-> Rednote Media: Delete Temporary Video (temp_id from the download node)
-> Postifys platform nodes using the uploaded Postifys URL

Run Delete only after Postifys confirms that media ingestion is complete. A platform response of queued alone does not prove the remote file has been copied.

Credentials

Create a Rednote API credential with the Rednote server URL and the same Postifys API key already connected to that dashboard account. Each key is restricted to that account's Rednote sources and temporary files.

Development

npm install
npm test
npm run release:check
