Switchless decision-table routing with configurable hit policies

Decision Table

AI-generated

Summary

Evaluate each input item against configured cases and route it to a decision output. Cases match only when they have at least one condition and all their conditions pass; the selected hit policy determines the result when multiple cases match.

Inputs

  • Default Decision — Decision returned when no case matches; defaults to deny and must not be empty.
  • Cases — Add cases with one or more filter conditions and a nonempty decision value. All conditions in a case must match. Case names are optional and used in debug and error messages.
  • Hit Policy — Resolves multiple matches: Unique (default) errors if more than one case matches; First uses the first matching case; Unanimous errors if matching decisions differ; Collect returns all matching decisions as an array.
  • Output Field Name — Field for the decision in each output item's JSON; defaults to _decision.
  • Include Matched Case — Adds matched_case for a match under non-Collect policies, or matched_cases under Collect, with case index and optional name (and decision for Collect). Defaults to false.

Output shape

One output item per input item, routed to a dynamically configured main output; Collect uses a single main output named decision.

Each output item retains the input JSON and binary data, adds the resolved decision under the configured output field, and preserves item pairing. With Collect, that field contains an array of matching decisions, or an array containing the default decision when nothing matches. With other policies, no match returns the default decision. Unique rejects identical nonempty condition sets and errors on multiple matching cases; Unanimous errors when matches have conflicting decisions. Errors stop execution unless Continue On Fail is enabled, in which case the item gets the decision value error and an error field.
