Summary

Evaluate configured business rules for each input item and add the resulting decision to its JSON. When multiple rules match, use the strongest decision in the order allow, escalate, silent, deny, error; use the configured default when none match.

Inputs

• Default Decision (required) — Decision to use when no rule matches; defaults to deny.
• Business Rules — Add rules with one condition each and a decision (defaults to allow). All rules are evaluated; matching rule decisions are ranked by strength, so the strongest match wins.
• Options: Output Field Name — JSON field for the final decision; defaults to _decision. A blank value also falls back to _decision.
• Options: Include Matched Rules — When enabled, adds matched_rules containing each matching rule's one-based index and decision; defaults to false.

Output shape

One output item per input item, on the main output.

Preserves each input item's JSON fields and binary data, and adds the decision field plus paired-item lineage. If rule evaluation fails, the decision becomes error; unexpected execution failures follow n8n continue-on-fail behavior. The node is marked deprecated; its description recommends Business Rules for routing without a Switch.
