Documentation

n8n-nodes-socialswarm

An n8n community node for SocialSwarm: turn any text or URL into ready-to-post X/Twitter thread variants.

Feed it an article, blog post, release notes, or a block of text — or just a URL — and get back multiple complete thread variants, each built around a different hook (curiosity, challenge, story, stat, question). Every tweet comes with its character count, ready to schedule or post as-is.

Installation

In n8n: Settings → Community Nodes → Install → enter n8n-nodes-socialswarm.

See the n8n docs on installing community nodes for details.

Credentials

  1. Go to the SocialSwarm developer portal and subscribe to a plan.
  2. Copy your API key.
  3. In n8n, create a SocialSwarm API credential and paste the key.

Operations

Generate Thread

Field Description
Source Type Text (paste content) or URL (fetch a page)
Source Text The article or content to repurpose (~100+ characters works best)
Source URL A page to fetch and repurpose into threads
Number of Variants 3 or 5 hook-varied thread variants

Returns structured JSON: variants[], each with hook, tweetCount, and tweets[] (text, charCount).

Example

Blog post → threads → scheduler draft. Trigger: new item in an RSS feed. Step 1: SocialSwarm → Generate Thread (Source Type: URL). Step 2: push variants[0].tweets to your scheduler as a draft.

Compatibility

Requires n8n with community nodes support and Node.js ≥ 18.10. The node is declarative (routing-based) and has no runtime dependencies.

Development

npm install
npm run lint # n8n community node linter
npm run build # compiles to dist/
npm run dev # runs a local n8n with the node loaded

Releases are published to npm via GitHub Actions with a provenance statement (.github/workflows/publish.yml); run npm run release to cut one.
