The node fetches only the latest N records (Records Per Poll) sorted by the time field, so bursts larger than the limit can be missed. 'previous' is only available for records already seen in a prior emission. Snapshots are capped at 5000 records, and the oldest are evicted first. HTTP 5xx errors skip the cycle silently, and other errors are thrown. The poll window advances either way. Requests retry up to 3 times on 429 or 5xx.
