Summary

Generate a platform-ready thumbnail from a required title using ThumbAPI. Choose its format, category, render quality, output image format, and optional saved or inline photo, logo, or reference assets; the result includes image metadata and, by default, decoded binary image data.

Inputs

  • Use Public Test Key — Uses ThumbAPI's public test key instead of saved credentials. The API returns a static placeholder image without consuming credits.
  • Title (required) — Title to generate the thumbnail for; the UI describes a maximum of 200 characters.
  • Format — Thumbnail dimensions: Blog Post, Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, or YouTube. Defaults to YouTube. Ignored when Custom Assets ID is provided.
  • Category — Content niche that biases reference search and final tone. Defaults to Auto; options include business, design, education, entertainment, fitness, food, gaming, lifestyle, medical, news, technology, and travel.
  • Model (Quality) — SD produces a 1K render for 10 credits by the UI description; HD produces a 2K render for 20 credits and is listed for Pro/Business plans. Defaults to SD.
  • Output Format — Image encoding, WebP or PNG. Defaults to WebP.
  • Use Saved Photo — Includes the saved Personal Photo as the main subject when enabled; the UI lists an additional 2 credits. Upload the photo in the ThumbAPI dashboard first.
  • Use Saved Logo — Overlays the saved brand logo in a corner when enabled; the UI lists an additional 2 credits. Upload the logo in the ThumbAPI dashboard first.
  • Custom Assets ID — Optional ID of a saved reference set containing 1–6 style images. The API uses the set's stored format instead of the Format input. The UI lists an additional 2 credits and Pro/Business plan availability.
  • Additional Options — Can include an inline base64 photo data URI (maximum 2 MB) or logo data URI (maximum 1 MB), each overriding the corresponding saved asset. Each requires its Use Saved Photo or Use Saved Logo toggle to be enabled.
  • Put Output In Binary — Defaults to true. When enabled, decodes the returned image into n8n binary data; when disabled, includes the raw image data URI in JSON.
  • Binary Property — Binary property name for the decoded image when Put Output In Binary is enabled. Defaults to data.

Output shape

One output item per input item, containing a JSON object and, by default, binary image data.

JSON includes format and outputFormat, with generationId and imageUrl when returned. With binary output enabled, the decoded image is stored under the configured binary property (default data) and the raw image is omitted from JSON. With binary output disabled, the raw image is returned as image in JSON. If the API response has no image, no binary image is attached. With Continue On Fail enabled, an item error is returned as { "error": "..." }.
