n8n-nodes-runmux
Official n8n community node for RunMux — generate video with Seedance 2.0 and
manage the face asset library, right inside your workflows.
Drag in the RunMux node, fill a few fields, and get a downloadable video URL back. The node
submits the job and polls internally (via the official @runmux/sdk), so there
is no loop/wait wiring to build — it just works for non-technical users.
Installation
In n8n (GUI)
- Go to Settings → Community Nodes.
- Select Install.
- Enter
n8n-nodes-runmuxand confirm.
Manual / self-hosted
npm install n8n-nodes-runmux
Then restart n8n. The node requires Node.js 18+ (the RunMux SDK uses the built-in fetch).
Credentials
Create a RunMux API credential:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| API Key | Your RunMux API key (stored encrypted, sent as a Bearer token). |
| Base URL | API endpoint. Defaults to https://api.runmux.com; change for staging. |
Operations
Video → Generate Video
Submit a generation job and wait for a finished, downloadable URL.
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Model | yes | Default seedance-2-0-mini. |
| Prompt | yes | Text description of the video. |
| Image URL | no | First-frame / single reference: https URL, data URI, or asset:// ref. |
| Reference Images | no | 1–9 multimodal references, comma- or newline-separated. |
| Resolution | no | 480p / 720p / 1080p (default 480p). |
| Duration | no | Seconds (default 5). |
| Number of Results | no | 1–4. Each variation comes back as its own output item. |
| Auto-Enroll Faces | no | Transparently enroll raw face images before generating. |
Output (per item): { id, status, url, model, seed }. The url is the downloadable result
(expires ~1h).
Video → Get Video
Look up the current status (and URL, if ready) of a video job by Video ID.
Output: { id, status, url, model, seed, errorMessage }.
Face → Enroll Face
Register an ordinary (non-celebrity) face photo into the asset library, wait until it is active, and
return a ready-to-use asset:// reference you can drop into Image URL / Reference Images.
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Image URL | one of | Public https URL of the face photo. |
| Data URL | one of | Inline data: URI / base64 (used when no Image URL). |
| Name | no | Optional label for the asset. |
Output: { assetUri }.
Celebrity / copyrighted likenesses are rejected by moderation; the node surfaces the reason as an
error. Use an ordinary face photo.
Example workflow
See examples/generate-video.json: a Manual Trigger →
RunMux (Generate Video) → HTTP Request that downloads the returned {{ $json.url }}.
Import it via Workflows → Import from File, then attach your RunMux credential.
Error handling
API failures throw an NodeApiError carrying the RunMux error code / status / request ID. Enable
Continue On Fail on the node to emit { error: "<message>" } per failed item instead of stopping
the workflow.
Development
npm install # installs deps + links the local @runmux/sdk (file:../../sdk/js)
npm run build # tsc -> dist/, then copies the node icon
npm run typecheck
