Puppeteer Service

AI-generated

Summary

Runs one of six Puppeteer browser actions — Basecamp login tasks (dashboard HTML, project list, todo attachments, PDF download) or generic URL screenshot/HTML fetch — using an inline Chromium instance or an optional external Puppeteer service.

Inputs

  • action (required) — Exactly one required parameter. Selects which browser automation to run.
  • todoUrl — Required for Get Todo Attachments; required for Download PDF when PDF URL is left empty.
  • pdfUrl — Optional direct PDF URL from storage.3.basecamp.com. If empty, the node auto-finds the first PDF/storage link on the todo page.
  • savePath — Local path where the downloaded PDF is saved. Default is /tmp/basecamp-report.pdf.
  • url — Required for Screenshot URL and Get HTML from URL.
  • fullPage — When true, screenshots the full page height. Default is true.
  • serviceUrl — Optional external Puppeteer service URL. Leave empty to run Puppeteer inline inside n8n.

Output shape

basecampDashboard: { url, title, html }. basecampProjects: { projects, count }. basecampAttachments: { attachments: [{ text, href }], pdfs, todoUrl, pageTitle, totalFound }. basecampPdf: { success, pdfUrl, savedTo, sizeBytes, base64 } plus binary file; if no PDF is found, { error, todoUrl }. screenshot: { success, url, title, base64, mimeType: 'image/png' } plus binary screenshot. getHtml: { url, title, html }.

One output item is produced for each input item. For PDF download and screenshot actions, a binary attachment is also added when successful.

Examples

Example 1: A workflow author can use this node to fetch the full HTML of a page, take a full-page screenshot, or pull Basecamp data (projects, todo attachments, or PDFs) without running a separate browser service.

For a PDF download: choose Basecamp — Download PDF, enter the Basecamp todo URL (and optionally a direct PDF URL), set the save path, and configure Basecamp Login API credentials. For a generic page: choose Screenshot URL or Get HTML from URL and enter the target URL.
