Emboss

Create fillable PDFs and fill forms from context via Emboss

Fill Existing Form

AI-generated

Summary

Fills a form already created in Emboss using supplied text and/or a context file, waits for the job to finish, and returns the filled PDF as binary data along with the session ID and fill report.

Inputs

  • Form (required) — The existing Emboss form to fill. Pick from a searchable list of your forms or enter the form UUID by ID.
  • Context (Text) — Free text with the information used to fill the form. Sent to Emboss as a context.txt file part.
  • Context File Field — Name of a binary property on the input item holding a context document (PDF, DOCX, CSV, image, text). Its filename and MIME type are passed along. It can be combined with the text context.

Output shape

One item per input item. The json holds session_id and report (the Emboss fill report, or an empty object). The binary property data holds the filled PDF as emboss.pdf (application/pdf).

The node submits a job, then polls every 3 seconds for up to about 5 minutes. It errors if the job reports failed or does not finish in time. With Continue On Fail enabled, failed items return json {error: message} and no binary. Neither context input is marked required in the UI, and the node does not check that at least one is provided.

Examples

Example 1: Fill a saved intake form from an email body

Form: select from list; Context (Text): expression with the email text; Context File Field left empty.

Example 2: Fill a form using an uploaded document

Form: By ID; Context File Field: 'data' (binary property from a previous Read/HTTP node containing a PDF or DOCX).
