Summary

Fetches an OSM element, checks its remote version against the expected version, then merges the supplied tags and submits the update using the specified changeset. The operation fails on a version mismatch; tag values are converted to trimmed strings and blank keys or nullish values are omitted.

Inputs

• Element Type (required) — Select node, way, or relation. Defaults to node.
• ID (required) — The ID of the element to update; consumed by the source even though it is not included in the supplied properties.
• Expected Version (required) — The element version expected on the server. The update fails if the fetched element has a different version.
• Changeset ID (required) — The changeset to associate with the update.
• Tags — JSON object of tags to add or replace. Existing tags are retained unless a supplied key replaces them. Defaults to an empty object.

Output shape

A single n8n item containing the OpenStreetMap API response in its json field for each input item.

The request reads the element, then sends the merged element data in an authenticated PUT request. The optional Safe Update setting is declared with a default of true, but the operation does not read it; version checking is performed regardless. Errors stop execution unless Continue On Fail is enabled, in which case an item with an error message is returned.
