Summary

Retrieve messages from a specific chat in an organization that occurred either before or after a given UTC date, with control over the number of messages returned.

Inputs

• Organization ID (required) — ID of the organization.
• Chat ID (required) — ID of the chat to retrieve messages from.
• From Date (UTC) (required) — Pivot date in ISO 8601 UTC to filter messages relative to this point in time.
• Direction — Whether to get messages that occurred 'Before' or 'After' the specified pivot date; defaults to 'Before'.
• Take — Number of messages to return; defaults to 50.

Output shape

a list of message records from the specified chat relative to the pivot date.

The API call fetches messages relative to 'From Date (UTC)' depending on 'Direction'. The number of messages is limited by 'Take'. Returned data depends on the Umbler Talk API response for chat messages.

Examples

Example 1: Fetch up to 100 messages before a certain date from a chat

Specify Organization ID, Chat ID, 'From Date (UTC)' as the cutoff, Direction as 'Before', and Take as 100.
