Summary

Fetch transcript for a single YouTube video.

Inputs

  • videoId (required) — YouTube video ID or full URL
  • format — Output format for the transcript. Options: JSON (full data with segments), Text (plain text), SRT (SubRip subtitle format), VTT (WebVTT subtitle format). Default: json
  • language — Preferred transcript language code (e.g., en, es, fr). Default: en
  • retryOptions — Retry configuration for the request. Contains maxRetries (0-10, default 3) and initialDelay (ms, default 1000). Retries on status codes 408, 429, 500, 502, 503, 504.

Output shape

Transcript data in the selected format, returned as JSON by n8n.

When format is Text, the additionalOptions.displayFormat parameter controls whether the output includes timestamps (Timeline), is plain (Plain), formatted as paragraphs (Paragraph), or split into sentences (Sentences). This parameter only appears when format is set to Text.
