Summary

Append incoming data as new rows at the bottom of a worksheet, creating the sheet if needed. Return the resulting XLSX file as binary data.

Inputs

  • Sheet Name — Worksheet to update; leave empty to use the workbook’s first sheet. If no matching sheet exists, Create Sheet if Missing (default on) creates it. With no existing workbook or sheet name, the workbook uses a sheet named Sheet1.
  • Data to Send — Choose Auto-Map Input Data to use each input item’s JSON as a row, with keys as column headers, or Define Columns Below to provide column/value pairs for each item. In auto-map mode, Fields to Exclude accepts comma-separated keys to omit.
  • Include Header Row — Defaults to on. When off, the node removes row 1 from the worksheet after writing; headers are still used internally to map fields to columns.
  • Apply Styling — Defaults to off. When enabled, apply simple style rules or advanced ExcelJS-compatible JSON rules after appending; simple mode also supports freezing the header row and estimating column widths.
  • Options — Input Binary Field selects an incoming XLSX file to modify (default data); the first input item carrying that field is used. If none is found, a new workbook is created. Output Binary Field names the resulting file field (default data), and Output File Name sets its attached filename (default spreadsheet.xlsx).

Output shape

A single n8n item containing the resulting XLSX workbook in a binary field and JSON with success: true.

The output binary field and filename follow Options. The output JSON copies the first input item’s JSON, if present, and adds success: true. Appended rows use existing header columns and add headers for new keys. Object values are serialized as JSON strings; null or undefined values are written as empty cells.
