Summary

Reads field metadata for a Tableau datasource through the VizQL Data Service. Use it to retrieve fields and their metadata for downstream workflow steps; optional settings control which metadata is included and how it is interpreted.

Inputs

• Authentication — Choose Connected App (JWT), the default, or Personal Access Token. Connected App authentication can optionally impersonate a Tableau user; the UI says this requires site administrator privileges.
• Datasource ID (required) — The datasource LUID whose field metadata to read.
• Options — Optional flags to bypass the metadata cache, include group formula fields, include hidden fields, and interpret field captions as field names in query operations. Each defaults to false.
• Connections — Optional database connection credentials for live datasources with multiple connections: connection LUID, username, and password. The connection LUID is required when the datasource has multiple connections; omit this for most extract-based datasources.
