Session Store (Ephemeral)Install

Summary

Retrieve a stored value from the ephemeral session store by specifying the key and storage scope.

Inputs

• Scope — The scope of the storage where the key is stored: 'execution' (current run only), 'workflow' (shared in-memory across this workflow executions), or 'global' (shared in-memory across all workflows). Data is ephemeral and lost on n8n restart.
• Key (required) — The key identifying the value to retrieve from the session store. Supports dot-notation for nested data access.

Output shape

A single JSON object containing the requested stored value. If the value is an object or array, it returns that structure directly; otherwise, it returns an object with the key name (last segment of the key) as property and the value as its content.

If the key does not exist, the returned value will be undefined. The operation processes input items but returns a single aggregated output item with the retrieved value(s).

Example 1: Get Value with 'execution' scope

Scope set to 'Execution (Current Run Only)', Key set to 'user.name' to retrieve the value of user.name stored in the current execution's ephemeral session store.
