Overview

This node overlays one image on top of another at a specified position. It is useful for automating image composition tasks, such as adding watermarks, logos, or decorative elements to images in workflows. For example, you could use it to automatically brand product photos with your company logo, or to add custom graphics to user-uploaded images.

Properties

Name Meaning
X coordinate The x position (in pixels) from the top-left corner where the overlay image will be placed. Defaults to 0.
Y coordinate The y position (in pixels) from the top-left corner where the overlay image will be placed. Defaults to 0.
Background image The main image that serves as the background. Use PNG format to preserve transparency.
Overlay image The image to be placed on top of the background image. Transparency is supported if using PNG.
Binary Property Name of the binary property where the resulting image data will be stored. Default is "data".

Output

  • Binary Data:
The output contains a binary field (with the name specified by "Binary Property") holding the resulting image after overlaying.
    • The file name and content type are set according to the processed image.
    • Any existing binary data on the input item is preserved unless overwritten by the output.

Dependencies

  • External Service: Requires access to the 1001fx API.
  • API Key: You must configure n8n credentials for 1001fxApi.
  • n8n Configuration: No additional environment variables required beyond the credential setup.

Troubleshooting

  • Common Issues:

    • Missing or Invalid Images: If either the background or overlay image is missing or not provided in the correct format, the node may fail.
    • Incorrect Binary Property Name: If the specified binary property does not match the expected input/output, the result may not be accessible in subsequent nodes.
    • File Format Issues: Using non-PNG files may result in loss of transparency or unexpected results.
  • Error Messages:

    • "error": "<message>" in the output JSON indicates an issue with the request or processing. Check that all required properties are set and that the images are valid.
    • If the node stops execution, ensure that "Continue On Fail" is enabled to capture errors in the output instead of halting the workflow.
