Translation → Translate Text
AI-generatedSummary
Translates a text string via the Lara Translate API from a chosen (or autodetected) source language into a target language, once per input item, and returns Lara's translation response as the item JSON.
Inputs
- Source Language — Language code of the input text. Leave as Autodetect (empty) to let Lara detect it. Accepts ISO 639-1, ISO 639-3 or BCP-47 codes (e.g. en, ace, en-GB); unsupported codes raise an error.
- Target Language (required) — Language code to translate into (e.g. en, it, pt-BR, zh-TW). Must be one of the supported codes.
- Text to Translate (required) — The text content. Must be non-empty (not whitespace only) and at most 10,000,000 characters.
- Additional Options > Glossaries — Glossaries from your Lara account to apply during translation (loaded dynamically; blank entries are dropped).
- Additional Options > Translation Memories — Translation memories to adapt the output to (sent as adapt_to).
- Additional Options > Translation Style — Faithful (default, literal), Fluid (natural), or Creative (adaptive).
- Additional Options > No Trace (Incognito Mode) — When true, sends X-No-Trace so source and translation are not stored by Lara.
- Additional Options For Translate Text > Content Type — Plain Text (text/plain) or XLIFF (application/xliff+xml).
- Additional Options For Translate Text > Instructions — One or more natural-language directives (formality, tone, terminology) guiding the translation.
- Additional Options For Translate Text > Timeout (Milliseconds) — Maximum time allowed for the translation, 1000–30000 ms (default 30000).
- Additional Options For Translate Text > Use Cache — Whether to save the translation in Lara's cache for future retrieval (default off).
- Additional Options For Translate Text > Cache TTL (Seconds) — Cache lifetime, minimum 60 s (default about 2 years). Only shown when Use Cache is enabled.
Output shape
One output item per input item, whose json is the spread of the Lara /translate response (the translation result object, with snake_case keys converted to camelCase).
The exact response fields come from the Lara API and are not defined in the node source. API HTTP errors surface as NodeApiError. With Continue On Fail enabled, a failed item yields json with error (and statusCode, body, headers for HTTP errors) instead of stopping the workflow.
Examples
Example 1: Translate a customer message into Italian with autodetected source language.
Source: Autodetect; Target: it; Text to Translate: {{ $json.message }}.
Example 2: Translate marketing copy into French in a formal, natural tone with a brand glossary.
Target: fr-FR; Text: {{ $json.copy }}; Additional Options: Translation Style = Fluid, Glossaries = brand glossary; Instructions: 'Use formal register (vous)'.
Example 3: Translate sensitive content without Lara retaining it.
Source: en; Target: de; Text: {{ $json.body }}; Additional Options: No Trace = true.
