Report → Export To File

AI-generated

Summary

Export a Power BI or paginated report from a required workspace as a selected file format. Optionally wait for the export to finish and return the exported file as binary data and base64.

Inputs

  • Authentication (required) — Authenticate with OAuth2 (default) or a bearer token.
  • Workspace Name or ID (required) — Select the workspace or provide its ID; choose My Workspace when exporting from your personal workspace.
  • Report Name or ID (required) — Select the report in the chosen workspace or provide its ID.
  • Report Type — Choose Power BI Report (default) or Paginated Report; available formats and configuration depend on this choice.
  • Export Format — For Power BI reports: PDF (default), PNG, or PPTX. For paginated reports: Accessible PDF, CSV, IMAGE, MHTML, XLSX, DOCX, PDF (default), or XML.
  • Wait For Completion — Defaults to true. When false, return the initial export response, including its status and export ID, without polling.
  • Download File — Available when waiting for completion; defaults to false. When enabled, download a successful export and include it as binary data and base64 in fileBase64.
  • Additional Fields — Set the maximum wait time and polling interval. The UI declares defaults of 300 seconds and 20 seconds; the implementation uses 600 seconds and 5 seconds when these values are absent or zero.
  • Power BI Report Configuration — For Power BI reports, optionally set locale, include hidden pages, export selected pages using a JSON array, apply report-level filters using a JSON array, set a default bookmark name or state, bind an alternative dataset, or provide RLS identities as a JSON array. Each feature is included when its corresponding Use/Export toggle is enabled.
  • Paginated Report Configuration — For paginated reports, optionally set locale, provide parameter values as a JSON array, format settings as a JSON object, or RLS identities as a JSON array. Each JSON configuration is included when its corresponding toggle is enabled.

Output shape

One or more n8n items, normally a single JSON item for the export response; a downloaded successful export also has binary data in the data property.

With waiting enabled, the JSON contains the final export status response. If Download File is enabled and the export succeeds with a resource location, the JSON also contains fileBase64 and the binary property contains the file. Without waiting, the initial response is returned. Export failures and reaching the maximum wait time raise errors.
