Provedit

Record AI actions to a tamper-evident chain and gate workflows on policy decisions.

Record Invocation

AI-generated

Summary

Records the intent to perform an action as an "invocation" entry in Provedit's tamper-evident audit chain by POSTing to /v1/actions, and returns the API's response (including the actionId used to link a later Record Result).

Inputs

  • tool (required) — Tool name matched by your Provedit policy (snake_case or dotted, e.g. send_email, billing.refund).
  • paramsRecord — JSON object of parameters recorded on the action. Defaults to {}; invalid JSON throws an error.
  • targetKind — Type of target touched: db, deploy, email, file, message, other, payment, record (default), repo, or url.
  • targetRef (required) — Identifier of what the action touches, such as a record ID or full http(s) URL.
  • targetSummary — Human-readable line shown on the timeline next to the target; sent only if non-empty.
  • additional.actorAgentName — Overrides the agent name on the entry.
  • additional.actorModelName — Model name, e.g. gpt-4o.
  • additional.actorUserEmail — End user on whose behalf the action runs.
  • additional.sessionId — Groups related actions in one conversation or workflow run.
  • additional.toolVersion — Tool version string; defaults to 0.0.0.

Output shape

One output item per input item, containing the JSON response from the Provedit API for the created action (documented to include an actionId).

The node sends no policy decision. The API re-evaluates against the tenant's active policy and stamps its own decision, so the recorder can't mark a call as allowed. Actor vendor is always set to 'n8n'. With Continue On Fail enabled, failed items return {error: message}. This operation does not block execution; use Check Policy (Decide) for gating.

Examples

Example 1: Log intent before issuing a refund, then link the result afterwards.

Tool=billing.refund, Target Kind=payment, Target Ref=cust_123, Target Summary='refund $48.00 to ACME Corp', Params={"amount":4800}. Pass the returned actionId to Record Result as Parent Action ID.

Example 2: Audit an outbound API call made by an AI agent workflow.

Tool=http_post, Target Kind=url, Target Ref=https://api.example.com/orders, Additional: Session ID={{$execution.id}}, Actor Model Name=gpt-4o.
