Summary

Create a contact or update the matching contact using the incoming contact fields. The node checks Contact Person email first, then Contact email; if multiple contacts match, the Match Strategy setting determines whether it errors, prefers a main contact person match, or uses the first match.

Inputs

• Fields (for Create or Update) (required) — Map the contact fields to create or update. The available fields are supplied by the contact resource mapper.
• Append Values to Multi-Select Fields? — Defaults to false. When enabled, appends new multi-select values instead of replacing existing values.
• Match Strategy — Available in node version 2; defaults to Error if Ambiguous. Choose how to handle multiple email matches: error, prefer contacts whose main contact person uses the email and error if still ambiguous, or update the first match.

Output shape

Contact data returned by the create or update operation, in n8n item form.

The operation matches by email, checking Contact Person email before Contact email. The exact output fields depend on the API response.
