Summary

Verify an Ethereum signature against an address

Inputs

• message (required) — The message that was signed, as a UTF-8 string
• signature (required) — The hex-encoded signature to verify
• address (required) — The candidate signer address in checksum or lowercase hex format

Output shape

a boolean indicating whether the signature matches the address

Returns true only if the signature is valid for the given address; otherwise false. No additional data is returned.

Examples

Example 1: Validate a user‑provided signed message

message = "Hello, Ethereum!", signature = "0x...", address = "0xAbc..."

Example 2: Reject an invalid signature

signature = "0xInvalid...", address = "0xDef...", expected result = false
