Summary

Create a new build in the specified Azure DevOps project using a build definition ID, optionally specifying source branch, source commit, and build parameters.

Inputs

• Project Name or ID (required) — Select the Azure DevOps project by name or ID where the build will be created.
• Build Definition ID (required) — Specify the ID of the build definition to use for this build.
• Additional Fields — Optional settings to customize the build: Source Branch (e.g., refs/heads/main), Source Version (commit ID), and JSON-formatted build parameters.

Output shape

a JSON object representing the created build record returned by the Azure DevOps API

The output includes details about the created build. Errors during creation produce error objects if the node is set to continue on fail.

Example 1: Create a build on the 'main' branch with a specified build definition

Set Project Name or ID to the target project, provide the Build Definition ID, and optionally set Additional Fields > Source Branch to 'refs/heads/main'.
