Summary

Create a new work item in a specified Azure DevOps project and work item type by providing field values either through a UI collection or JSON patch operations.

Inputs

• Project Name or ID (required) — Select or specify the Azure DevOps project where the work item will be created.
• Work Item Type Name or ID (required) — Select or specify the type of work item to create (e.g., Bug, Task), which depends on the selected project.
• Fields Input Mode (required) — Choose how to provide the work item fields: via formatted UI entries or raw JSON patch operations.
• Fields (JSON) — Provide an array of JSON patch operations specifying fields and their values, e.g., [{"op": "add", "path": "/fields/System.Title", "value": "My Work Item"}]. Used if 'Fields Input Mode' is set to 'JSON'.
• Fields (UI) — Add field name and value pairs in a user-friendly collection interface. Required fields for the selected work item type are marked with an asterisk (*). Used if 'Fields Input Mode' is set to 'Fields UI'.
