Summary

Create a new user in Azure DevOps by specifying their principal name (email), access level, and optionally group assignments and project entitlements.

Inputs

• Principal Name (required) — The principal name (email) of the user to create.
• Access Level (required) — The access level to assign to the user. Options include Basic, Basic + Test Plans, Stakeholder, Visual Studio Enterprise, and Visual Studio Professional.
• Additional Fields — Optional JSON fields including Group Assignments (an array of groups to assign to the user) and Project Entitlements (an array defining project access and roles).

Output shape

a JSON object representing the created user record returned from the Azure DevOps API

Returns the newly created user data as JSON. Errors encountered will be returned per item if 'continueOnFail' is enabled.

Examples

Example 1: Create a user with Basic access and assign them to specific groups and projects using JSON arrays for 'Group Assignments' and 'Project Entitlements' in the Additional Fields.

Set Principal Name to user's email, Access Level to desired tier, and provide JSON arrays for groupAssignments and projectEntitlements in Additional Fields.
