Summary

Trigger a specific Azure DevOps pipeline to run within a selected project.

Inputs

• Project Name or ID (required) — Select the Azure DevOps project by name or ID where the pipeline exists.
• Pipeline ID (required) — Specify the unique identifier of the pipeline to be triggered.
• Additional Fields — Optionally specify the branch reference (e.g., refs/heads/main) on which to run the pipeline and/or provide pipeline variables as a JSON object for the run.

Output shape

a JSON object representing the details of the triggered pipeline run

Returns a single JSON record containing information about the pipeline run initiated by this operation.

Examples

Example 1: Triggering a pipeline run on the main branch with variables

Set 'Project Name or ID' to the target project, 'Pipeline ID' with the pipeline to run, and within Additional Fields, set 'Branch' to 'refs/heads/main' and 'Variables' to a JSON object with desired pipeline variables.
