Summary

Append a value to a record file in the specified directory, creating the directory or record if needed. For an existing record, the node adds the configured separator before the new value; the appended value is converted to a string and trailing whitespace is removed.

Inputs

• Directory Name (required) — Directory containing the record. Created automatically if it does not exist.
• Key (required) — Record key, used as the filename.
• Value — Text to append. Trailing whitespace is trimmed before writing.
• Separator — Inserted between existing content and the appended value. Defaults to a newline; the literal \n is converted to a newline, and an empty separator concatenates directly.

Output shape

One output item per input item, containing a JSON object with directory, key, value, and appended: true.

If the record does not exist, it is created with the value and no separator is prepended. The append path stores the value as text; it does not parse JSON.
