Summary

Renders an image from a saved Pictify template by POSTing variables to /templates/{id}/render, returning the API response and optionally downloading the rendered image as binary data.

Inputs

  • Template ID (required) — UID of the Pictify template to render (URL-encoded into the endpoint path).
  • Variables — JSON object of variables injected into the template. Defaults to {}; invalid JSON raises an error.
  • Output Options > Format — png (default), jpeg, jpg or webp.
  • Output Options > Width / Height — Output size in pixels (10–4096). Only sent when greater than 0; otherwise the template default is used.
  • Output Options > Quality — Render quality 0.1–1.0 (default 0.9).
  • Output Options > Layout — Single layout variant name, e.g. "square" or "story".
  • Output Options > Layouts — Comma-separated layout names to render in one call (max 20); "default" is the base layout.
  • Output Options > Return Binary — If true, downloads the rendered image and attaches it as binary data to the item. Default false.
  • Output Options > Binary Property Name — Binary property that holds the downloaded image (default "data"). Shown only when Return Binary is on.

Output shape

One output item per input item, with json set to the Pictify API response (typically including a render URL) and pairedItem linked to the input item. With Return Binary on, the item also carries the image as binary data.

Binary download uses the first URL found in the response: url, gif.url, or results[0].url. With multiple layouts, only the first result's image is downloaded as binary, though the full response stays in json. If no URL is found, no binary is attached. With Continue On Fail enabled, errors are returned as {error: message} items.

Example 3: Attach the rendered image to an email or upload step

Return Binary on; Binary Property Name "data"; Format jpeg; Quality 0.8.
