Record → Update
AI-generatedSummary
Updates fields on a single existing Teable record by ID via a PATCH request, and returns the updated record.
Inputs
- Space (required) — Teable space, chosen from a dropdown. It only drives the Base dropdown and isn't sent in the update request.
- Base (required) — Base within the selected space. It only drives the Table dropdown and isn't sent in the update request.
- Table (required) — Table containing the record. Must contain only letters, digits, underscores or hyphens.
- Record ID (required) — ID of the record to update (recXXXXXXXX). Same character restriction as Table.
- Fields — Repeatable Field/Value pairs to set. Field is picked from the table's field names, or typed via expression. Values are parsed as JSON where possible, so arrays, objects, booleans and null are sent as real types. Numeric strings stay strings and Teable coerces them. Anything that isn't valid JSON is sent as plain text. Names like proto, constructor and prototype are rejected.
- Additional Options > Field Key Type — Whether field keys in the request and response are field names (default) or field IDs (fldXXX). If you choose Field ID, the Field names you enter must be IDs.
Output shape
One n8n item per updated record, taken from the API's records array. The record JSON includes its id and fields. If the response has no records array, the raw response is returned as one item.
The request sets typecast: true, so Teable converts values to the field types where it can. Only the supplied fields are sent. Requests retry up to 3 times on HTTP 429 or 5xx, with no delay between retries. It runs once per input item. With Continue On Fail enabled, a failed item returns {error: message} instead of stopping the run.
Examples
Example 1: Mark a task as done after a webhook fires.
Pick Space, Base and Table. Set Record ID to {{$json.recordId}}. Add the field Status with value Done.
Example 2: Set tags and a checkbox on a record.
Add the field Tags with value ["a","b"] and the field Active with value true.
Example 3: Update by field ID so renamed columns don't break the workflow.
Set Additional Options > Field Key Type to Field ID. Enter the field IDs (fldXXX) as the field names.
