Summary

Post a message to a Home of Agents chat, optionally attaching a previously uploaded file or interactive buttons. Choose whether it appears as a standard chat bubble or a collapsed event card, and whether it is sent as the assistant, user, or system; user and system messages trigger the receiving assistant.

Inputs

  • Assistant Name or ID (required) — Select the assistant, enter its ID, or leave empty to use assistantId / assistant_id from input data (or the assistant object’s id).
  • Chat Name or ID (required) — Select the target chat, enter its ID, or leave empty to use chatId / chat_id from input data, chat.id, or message.chatId.
  • Text — Message body. Required when no file is attached; if blank, the operation can use text from input data or message.text.
  • Sender — Choose Assistant (default; saves a reply without triggering the receiving AI), User (saves as the user and triggers the assistant), or System (posts a system notification and wakes the assistant with a system marker).
  • Message Type — Choose Standard for a regular chat bubble or Event for a collapsed machine-delivered card. Event messages require an Event Title; Event Source defaults to n8n, while Event Peek and Event Payload are optional.
  • Additional Fields — Optionally attach a File ID from Upload a File, provide Interactive Buttons as JSON, and choose inline or modal button rendering (defaults to inline; inline supports up to 6 options). Agent Identity is an advanced legacy override; use the Peer resource for agent-to-agent side conversations.

Output shape

A single output item per input item, combining the original input JSON with the API response fields.

With Continue On Fail enabled, failures produce the original input JSON plus success: false and an error message. A configured File ID takes precedence over files or messageFiles arrays on input.
