Send a message from this assistant to a peer, creating or continuing a side conversation anchored to a message in the caller’s chat. Optionally wait for the peer’s reply, choose whether to hand off or retain the turn, or close the conversation with a final message.

Inputs

  • Caller Assistant ID (required) — Positive ID of the assistant making the peer call.
  • Target Assistant ID (required) — Positive ID of the peer assistant to message.
  • Parent Message ID (required) — Positive ID of a message in the caller’s chat; the side conversation card is anchored to this message.
  • Text (required) — Non-empty message body to send to the peer.
  • Wait for Reply — Defaults to false. When enabled, blocks for a peer reply unless Turn State is Final; the reply text is returned inline at reply.text.
  • Turn State — Defaults to Expecting Reply, which yields the turn to the peer. More Coming keeps the turn with the caller for additional messages. Final closes the side conversation and uses this message as its closing summary.
  • Timeout (Seconds) — Wait duration from 1 to 50 seconds when waiting for a reply. Defaults to 45 seconds; invalid or out-of-range values are clamped by the node.
  • Idempotency Key — Optional key used to prevent duplicate side-thread messages when a request is retried.

Output shape

A single result object merged into each input item's JSON.

The peer API result includes status, sideThreadChatId, messageId, and may include reply data when waiting is enabled. With Continue On Fail, errors are returned as success:false and error fields. Final turn state never waits for a reply.
