Summary

Fetches the transcript of a TikTok video by POSTing its URL to the TranscriptMagic API (/api/tiktok/transcript), returning either a simplified or the raw API response.

Inputs

  • url (required) — TikTok video URL to transcribe. Whitespace is trimmed; an empty value throws an error. Can be set via expression per input item. The placeholder shows a YouTube URL, but this operation sends it to the TikTok endpoint.
  • options.outputFormat — Output shape. 'Normalized' (default) returns text, platform, credits and url. 'Raw' returns the upstream API response unchanged.

Output shape

One output item per input item. Normalized: { text, platform: "tiktok", credits, url }. Raw: the TranscriptMagic API JSON body verbatim.

Normalized text is taken from the response's transcript (string), transcript or transcripts arrays (segment text joined with spaces), or text field, and is an empty string if none match. credits is null if the API doesn't return a numeric value. Requires the transcriptMagicApi credential. On HTTP 429 the node waits for the Retry-After header (default 5s) and retries once. Other API errors throw, unless Continue On Fail is on, in which case the item is { error: message }. Each request presumably uses API credits, as the response reports a credits value.

Examples

Example 1: Transcribe a TikTok video URL from a previous node and feed the text to an AI summarizer.

Operation: TikTok; URL: ={{ $json.videoUrl }}; Output Format: Normalized. Use {{ $json.text }} downstream.

Example 2: Inspect the full upstream API payload for a TikTok video.

Operation: TikTok; URL set to a TikTok link; Options > Output Format: Raw.
