Summary

Creates a tag in a VNTANA workspace using a get-or-create pattern: if a tag with the same name already exists (case-insensitive exact match), it returns that tag instead of creating a duplicate.

Inputs

• clientUuid (required) — Workspace UUID to create the tag in. If left empty, falls back to the default workspace UUID from credentials; errors if neither is set.
• name (required) — Name of the tag. Used for the duplicate check (case-insensitive exact match) and as the new tag's name.
• options.tagGroupUuid — UUID of a tag group to add the new tag to. Only sent when creating a new tag, not applied to an existing match.

Output shape

One item per input item, containing the tag object returned by the VNTANA API (either the existing matching tag or the newly created one).

The duplicate check searches the workspace using the name as a search term (first 10 results only) and looks for an exact case-insensitive name match. If one is found, no create call is made and tagGroupUuid is ignored. API errors, including business errors returned with HTTP 200, are thrown, or emitted as an {error} item if Continue On Fail is enabled.

Examples

Example 1: Ensure a tag exists before applying it to products

Resource: Tag, Operation: Create, Name: 'Summer 2026', Workspace UUID empty (uses credentials default). Pass the returned uuid into Product > Update Product's Tag UUIDs.

Example 2: Create a tag inside a specific tag group

Name: 'Sofas', Workspace UUID set, Options > Tag Group UUID set to the target group's UUID.
