AutoVerse Workflow Controller

Enterprise workflow orchestration, execution control, and monitoring for n8n

Scheduler → Dependency Graph System

AI-generated

Summary

Builds a dependency graph of workflows on the connected n8n instance by scanning each workflow's nodes for references to other workflows, and flags possible circular or self-calling loops. Read-only; changes nothing.

Inputs

None.

Output shape

One item per input item, with a dependencyGraph object containing workflowCount, edges (a list of objects with fromWorkflowId, toWorkflowId and a reason string naming the referencing node), and possibleLoops (a list of objects with workflowId, workflowName and reason).

This operation has no parameters, so it always analyzes workflows fetched via the n8n API, up to 50 pages of 100. Larger instances may be truncated. An edge is created when a node's parameters contain workflowId, workflow or workflowID as a non-empty string or number (for example Execute Workflow nodes). Loop detection only covers direct self-calls and two-workflow reciprocal references, not longer cycles. Target IDs are not checked to exist. Needs an n8n API credential. Errors fail the node unless Continue On Fail is set, in which case an item with an error field is returned.

Examples

Example 1: Audit which workflows call each other before deactivating or deleting one.

Resource: Scheduler, Operation: Dependency Graph System. No other parameters.

Example 2: Detect workflows that might trigger infinite sub-workflow loops and alert on them.

Run this operation, then use an IF node on {{$json.dependencyGraph.possibleLoops.length}} > 0 to send a notification.
