Summary

Removes one or more tags, matched by name, from selected n8n workflows via the n8n public API, leaving their other tags unchanged.

Inputs

• Workflow Selection — How to pick target workflows: From Searchable List (default), Multiple From List, Current Workflow (the workflow running this node; it must be saved first), or By URL or ID.
• Workflow Name or ID (required) — Single workflow to update. Shown when selection mode is list.
• Workflow Names or IDs (required) — Several workflows to update. Shown when selection mode is multiple.
• Workflow URL or IDs — Workflow URL, ID, or comma-separated IDs or URLs. The workflow ID is extracted from URLs. Shown when selection mode is manual.
• Tag Names — Comma-separated tag names to remove, for example 'production, priority'. Matching is exact and case-sensitive against existing tag names. Names that match no existing tag are ignored without error.

Output shape

A single item with a results array. It has one entry per targeted workflow. Each entry is the updated workflow object returned by the n8n API PATCH call.

At least one workflow must be selected, or the node throws an error. If Tag Names is empty or matches no existing tags, each workflow is still PATCHed with its tags unchanged. Tags are not deleted from n8n itself, only detached from the selected workflows. Errors stop the run unless Continue On Fail is enabled. Requires the n8nApi credential.

Examples

Example 1: Strip the 'deprecated' tag from several workflows at once.

Example 2: Remove staging tags from the workflow that is running this node.

Workflow Selection: Current Workflow; Tag Names: staging, wip

Example 3: Untag a workflow by pasting its editor URL.
